I am a supportive Career Counselor with over 15 years experience in offering motivational and creative advice. I am a strong advocate of developing your personal potential and self knowledge. Every day I am committed to empowering people and enable them to make informed decisions about what will make them happy and enable them to thrive in any educational or work envionment they choose.
My goal is to provide a career path assessment and roadmap with a career focused package, designed to assist students in choosing the correct study subjects and help them begin the journey of creating a successful career. This is an old client of yours from Summerhill College, Midrand. Back in 2020, you assisted with my two older sons, Godlove and Raphael. Today, I am happy to report that Godlove has graduated from AFDA with a BA in Motion Picture Medium. Raphael is a student pilot, currently studying for his Commercial Pilot Licence. They both like what they do.
Dear Dr Laas
My name is Nicolas Rovetto. My mother booked an appointment with you when I was in Grade 11 at Pretoria Boys High School, in 2017. Based on the assessments that I did and the questionnaires that I filled out, one of the top fields that you suggested for me was Medical Physics. Before that day, I had never even heard of the field, but I was intrigued.
After that, I applied for a BSc Physics at the University of Pretoria, which I started in 2019 and finished in 2021. I then did my honors in Medical Physics, also at UP, in 2022. Following that, mid-way through last year I started my clinical internship as a Medical Physicist at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. I have just over a year left of the internship before I will be a qualified Medical Physicist.
I just wanted to say a very big thank you for the insight that you provided and the experience as a whole. Every time somebody asks me how I got into medical physics I say "well there was this career guidance counsellor that my mom took me to in grade 11...", and the rest is history. From then it seems as if everything has fallen into place and I realise everyday how lucky I am to be where I am, especially at this age. Thank you for helping me find something that I love doing each and every day. I cannot wait to be fully qualified and working in the field.
I hope everything is going well with you and I am sure that you are continuing to inspire and change young people's lives for the better through smart career choices.
